Softball Downs Curry in Nightcap, 7-1

MILTON, Mass. – Suffolk softball secured the Commonwealth Coast Conference sweep of Curry with a 7-1 game two victory over the Colonels Tuesday afternoon at D. Forbes Will Field.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 7 | Curry 1
RECORDS: Suffolk (11-11, 3-1 CCC) | Curry (9-11, 0-4 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk put up three runs in the third thanks to extra base hits. Julia Mills' double to left field brought in Lily Gustafson, who reached on a fielder's choice. One out later, Becky Zellin barreled a home run to left field to make it 3-0 Rams.

The score stood still until the seventh when the blue-and-gold stretched its advantage to 7-0. Mills brought in the first run of the inning on a base hit to left center. The freshman plated Ava Brandow, who reached first on a throwing error by the Colonels' short Jordan Ferullo. With one out and the bases chucked, Lily Newhall collected a pair of RBI on a single through the left side and the last run of the frame came in on a wild pitch.

Curry eliminated the shutout in the home half of the inning. Hailey King knocked a two-out single to right field and put on her running shoes on Sam King's double to center to put the Colonels on the board. That would the only run the Colonels could muster as Bella Rocha-Medeiros converted an unassisted ground out at first for the final out of the day.
