BOSTON – Suffolk softball begins its CCC Tournament play Wednesday, May 10 as the seventh-seeded Rams visit second-seed Western New England for game one of Bracket B. First pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Golden Bears Park.

SUFFOLK IN THE CCC TOURNAMENT

  • Suffolk will make its second straight trip to the CCC Tournament. 
  • The Rams enter the CCC postseason as the seventh seed for the first time. 
  • Suffolk looks for its first win in the CCC Tourney.  

SUFFOLK IN CONFERENCE POSTSEASON ACTION

  • The Rams will make their 22nd trip to the postseason, second straight. 
  • Suffolk owns one conference crown to its credit, the inaugural Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) title in 1996. 
  • The blue-and-gold has never hoisted a league banner when an automatic qualifier for the NCAA Tourney has been on the line.  

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk went just 10-20 in the regular-season and earned a spot in the CCC playoffs with a 7-11 league ledger. 

Savannah Scripter and Ava Brandow have supplied 30-plus hits and brought in 15 runs apiece to the Rams' 107-run offense. Scripter, who hits .361, has a team-best 35 hits and has score done run. Brandow, meanwhile, has produced 30 hits on a .313 connection rate with 10 runs scored. 

Brandow is a go-to arm in the circle. Over 90.2 innings pitched she has compiled a 5.64 ERA with 65 strikeouts. Ashlyn Conley is the other go-to twirler for the bluea-nd-gold. She holds a 5.47 ERA with 21 strikeouts to her credit.  

GET TO KNOW THE GOLDEN BEARS
Western New England finished the regular season 25-13 overall and 13-5 in CCC play to lock up the second seed in the conference tournament.  

Kailey Carrano led the Golden Bears with 43 hits including 13 homers for 40 RBI and 15 runs scored. Dina DiBlasio has registered 53 hits, including 19 doubles and four bombs, for 27 RBI and 26 runs scored on a .408/.425/.646 slash line. 

Megan Beebe and Ava Blanchard are the usual starters for WNE. Beebe boasts a 2.21 ERA over 104.2 innings of work with nearly 100 punchouts. Blanchard, meanwhile, brings in a 2.72 ERA in 79.2 innings with 81 Ks.  

WE MEET AGAIN
Suffolk and Western New England met in the regular-season finale just four days ago on Saturday, May 6. The Golden Bears swept the Rams via 5-2, 5-2 decisions.
