BRISTOL, R.I. – Suffolk softball slipped to Roger Williams in both outings of a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) doubleheader by identical 3-2 margins to wrap up the 2022 regular-season Sunday afternoon.

GAME 1 SCORE: Suffolk 2 | Roger Williams 3
GAME 2 SCORE: Suffolk 2 | Roger Williams 3
RECORDS: Suffolk (20-18, 10-8 CCC) | Roger Williams (10-28, 7-11 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPANED
Suffolk may have got on the board first in game one, but Roger Williams responded with a three-run home half of the inning to force the Rams to play catchup.

The visitors trimmed the gap down to one in the third when Bianca Luciano singled up the middle, moved into scoring position on a wild pitch and scored on Jolie Quintana's own base hit up the middle.

Things stayed at 3-2 in the Hawks favor as Suffolk was kept without a scoring opportunity until the seventh. A Ram found its way into scoring position behind a Jenny Jacob single through the right side and a productive infield ground out. With two outs, Ella Turnbull reached on an error by Roger Williams short stop. On the play, pinch runner Diana Rucinkski looked to capitalized on the miscue, but was called out at the plate to seal Suffolk's setback fate.

RWU started game two with two runs in the bottom of the first to force Suffolk to play from behind once again.

The Rams got on the board in the third on Savannah Scripter's two-run single up the middle that leveled the playing field at 2-all.

Both teams were held scoreless over the next two frames. Things changed in the sixth as the host took advantage of a Rams miscue to go ahead, 3-2.

With just one more go at the plate, Suffolk used a lead-off error by the Hawks to put the tying run on. A sac bunt moved the runner into scoring position, but the Rams was stranded there was the next two batters went down in order to seal the 3-2 decision.
