Endicott Keeps Softball Quiet in Game 2, 8-0

BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk softball's offense was limited to just two hits, while the Gulls put up eight runs over the first two innings, which proved to be enough for Endicott to take down the Rams, 5-0, in five innings in the nightcap of a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) doubleheader at the Softball Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Endicott jumped out to an early 5-0 edge in the first frame that grew to an eight-run advantage after two complete innings.  

The Rams were no hit in the first two before coupling back-to-back base knocks to start the third. That's the only offense the blue-and-gold managed to put together as Maria Hanchuck shoved the rest of the way to lock up the run-rule decision in the Gulls favor.

PITCHERS PICTURE

  • Ava Brandow took the loss afte giving up eight runs on seven hits and one walk with one strikeout in 1.2 innings of work. 
  • Julia Newcomb tossed 2.1 innings of scoreless relief with just two hits and one walk allowed to go along with one K. 
  • Hanchuck logged a two-hit, no-walk, no-strikeout, 5.0-inning shutout.
