BOSTON – Suffolk softball is set for its second Beantown battle in as many days as the Rams will travel across town to take on Emmanuel in a double feature. The blue-and-gold will play as the home team at Clemente Field with game one set to start at 5 p.m.

Suffolk softball overcame an 11-7 game one setback to UMass Boston with a decisive 12-1 nightcap victory over the Beacons to secure a non-conference twinbill split in the Boston battle at UMB Softball Field Tuesday.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk holds a 17-11 overall record after its split at UMass Boston yesterday.  

Ava Brandow's bat powers the Rams' 137-run offense. The freshman has 32 hits and 26 RBI behind a slash line of .364/.391/.602 with 12 runs scored. Caitlin Murphy is productive offensively as well with 32 hits on a .395 connection rate for 12 RBI to go along with 23 runs scored and 17 stolen bases. Ally Cifaratta (.353) and Jolie Quintana (.380) have contributed 30 hits apiece. The latter has added 20 RBI and 17 runs scored. 

In the circle, Jenny Jacob has proven herself as the blue-and-gold's ace. The junior holds a 1.15 ERA and 81 strikeouts in her 66.2 innings pitched over 13 appearances, nine starts. Kennedy Reyes (3.84 ERA, 27.1 IP, 16 K) and Brandow (4.59 ERA, 29.0 IP, 21 K) are consistent starts for Suffolk as well. 

SAINTS SAYINGS
Emmanuel has strung nine wins in a row to bring a 13-9 overall record into Wednesday's outing.  

The Saints offense has scored 128 runs in 22 games. Olivia Conti leads the way with 30 hits on a .400 average with 19 RBI and 21 runs scored. Reanee Lacroix (22 H, 13 R), Grace Orcutt (21 H, 10 RBI, 11 R), Julyanna Pacheco (21 H, 11 RBI, 16 R) and Jadynne Hill (20 H, 15 RBI, 14 R) are consistent contributors at the plate as well. 

Emmanuel cycles through three different pitchers on a regular basis. Tianna Dawe owns the best numbers with a 3.59 ERA over 76.0 innings with 65 strikeouts. Brenna Whittaker has the other usual starter and holds a 3.75 ERA with 22 Ks. Orcutt rounds out the threesome with a 5.40 ERA and 12 punchouts. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk and Emmanuel are friendly foes as Boston neighbors and conference counterparts for a number of years. 
  • The Rams own a 45-22 all-time record versus the Saints.
  • Suffolk and Emmanuel split last season's doubleheader. The blue-and-gold lost game one, 2-1, before bouncing back in game two, 8-3.
