Quintana Takes CCC Player and Rookie of the Week

CCC RELEASE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Suffolk softball's Jolie Quintana took home Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player and Rookie of the week honors after a productive performance at the plate in a six-game stretch, the league office announced.

Quintana was a tough out for the Rams this week, batting .733/.688/1.000. She hit safely in all, but three at bats this week, giving her four multi-hit games, including two three hit efforts.

The freshman's hit were also productive ones, starting with a. 4-for-5 showing in a conference doubleheader against Western New England, during which she drove in four runs.  At Johnson & Wales later in the week, she went 1-for-2 at the plate in a non-league matchup with the Wildcats where she picked up two more RBI in the process. The Lynn, Massachusetts, native closed out the week with a 6-for-8 showing in a double feature against Curry. The right-handed batter had two doubles in the twinbill and four more RBI, giving her 10 RBI for the week.

Quintana, who earned her first weekly awards of her collegiate career, is the third Ram to collect a weekly recognition from the CCC this season as Ava Brandow was named the best rookie over a seven-day stretch March 29 and Jenny Jacob received pitcher of the week status March 21. The two awards in a week's span is the first for Suffolk since Payton Sylvester took home Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Pitcher and Rookie of the Week May 1, 2018. Quintana is the first Suffolk student-athlete to be the best player and rookie the same week since Sylvester did so April 2, 2018 via the GNAC.

Suffolk is set to get back in action Tuesday, April 19 with a non-conference Beantown battle at the UMass Boston. Game one has a 3 p.m. first pitch.
