Softball Secures Sweep with 6-0 Shutout of Curry in Game Two

MILTON, Mass. – Behind the pitching of Jenny Jacob, Suffolk softball blanked Curry, 6-0, in the nightcap of a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) double feature at D. Forbes Will Field Saturday afternoon.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 6 | Curry 0
RECORDS: Suffolk (16-10, 7-3 CCC) | Curry (5-24, 1-9 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk's scoring started in the first frame. Caitlin Murphy wore a pitch to reach first, stole second and Jolie Quintanatraded places with the blue-and-gold's center fielder with a double to left field.

Three innings later, the Rams went off on a four-run rally to stretch their advantage to five. The offensive output came with two outs as Bianca Luciano knocked a double through the left side that brought in Lily Gustafason and Ira Boci, who reached behind a base hit. Murphy's single through the left side plated Ira Boci, who got on with a fielder's choice. The game turned into déjà vu as Murphy swiped second during Quintana's at bat. This time Quintana's hit not only scored Murphy, but allowed Luciano to come in as well for the 5-0 margin.

Curry saw chances in the fourth and fifth, but were held scoreless by the combination of Jacob in the circle and the blue-and-gold gloves.

Suffolk's scoring continued in the sixth. Boci barreled a double to let center and two outs later Murphy's single through the left side brought her in to bump the distance to six, which held the rest of the way.
