BOSTON – Suffolk softball takes a break from its Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) competition Tuesday, April 5 when it entertains Lesley at East Boston Memorial Park. The double feature, that was originally scheduled for Wednesday, April 6, will begin at 4:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk softball scored early and held off a Gordon comeback to grab a 4-3 nightcap win in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) double feature Sunday.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk has strung together five straight wins to improve to 12-4 on the season.  

Ava Brandow and Ally Cifarrata have each contributed 19 hits. Brandow, who is batting .388, has a team-best 17 RBI and six runs scored, while Cifratta has scored eight times and brought in five runs. Caitlin Murphy, who is hitting .370, is a consistent offensive contributor with 17 hits, 12 runs scored, nine stolen bases and six RBI. 

The Rams pitching staff has been impressive this season as the seven arms have combined for 2.31 ERA with 92 strikeouts scattered over 109.0 innings. Jenny Jacob paces the pack with a 1.03 ERA with 34.0 innings over seven appearances, including five starts, and a staff-best 41 Ks. Ava Brandow (1.65 ERA, 12 K, 17.0 IP) and Ella Turnbull(1.71 ERA, 16.1 IP, 11 K) sport sub-2.00 ERAs as well. 

LYNX LOOK
Lesley is on a win streak of its own as it swept twinbills against Rivier, Johnson State and Northern Vermont-Lyndon to bring a 6-4 record into Tuesday's tilt. 

Jordan Day is an all-around contributor with team-best numbers at the dish, while holding down the Lynx circle. The ace, who also plays first base, has a slash line of .556/.667/1.074 with 15 hits, 19 RBI and 11 runs scored. In her five pitching appearances, all starts, she has built a 3.36 ERA with 28 strikeouts over 25.0 innings. 

Samantha Mecklenburg splits time with Day on the rubber to round the pitching staff. Mecklenburg holds a 4.59 ERA over 29.0 innings with 14 punchouts. Illana Zack (.438, 14 H, 7 RBI, 5 R, 4 SB and Mahlia Medina (11 H, 13 RBI, 12 R) compliment Day at the dish. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk walked-off in each game of a twinbill in 2019 against Lesley to move to 11-1 all-time against the Lynx. 
  • The Rams have won four in row against Lesley. 
  • Each of the blue-and-gold's wins over Lesley in the last four meetings have come via one-run.
