    Suffolk softball saw its 2022 campaign come to a close Thursday afternoon as Roger Williams scored three unanswered runs over the third and fourth innings, respectively, to defeat the Rams, 3-1, in an elimination game in the CCC Tournament at the Softball Complex on the campus of Endicott.

    Suffolk softball hung onto a two-run lead with a no-hitter by Jenny Jacob going into the fifth. An error on the Leopards lead-off allowed a Leopards base runner on and things unraveled from there for the Rams as Wentworth rallied behind that infield hiccup to put up three runs in the fifth and maintained the 3-2 margin the rest of the way to take the CCC Tournament opening contest away from the blue-and-gold Thursday at the Softball Complex at Endicott.

    The fourth-seeded Suffolk softball team kicks off the 2022 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament Thursday, May 5 against fifth-seeded Wentworth. The Rams and Leopards, who will meet at the Softball Complex on the campus of Endicott at 12:15 p.m., are a part of Bracket A that also features top-seed Gulls and eighth-seed Roger Williams.
