Endicott Run Rules Softball in Game 1, 15-1

BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk softball fell behind early and Endicott continuously added to its advantage to grab a 15-1, five-inning decision over the Rams in game one of a CCC doubleheader Friday afternoon at the Softball Complex.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 1 | Endicott 15
RECORDS: Suffolk (5-8, 3-2 CCC) | Endicott (1-0, 1-0 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Caitlin Murphy had a lead-off single and sniped second to reach scoring position. Suffolk's centerfielder was stranded to keep zeros on the scoreboard.

The same can't be said for the Gulls as the hosts put three runs on the board on a two-out rally. When Lauren Misiazsek singled, the Rams' second basemen went to get the runner at second. The players reached the bag at the same time and the umpire called the runner safe. When the commotion happened at second, Katie Watts, who singled to left center, came home to begin the scoring.

From there, Raven Comtois walked to keep the inning going and Katie Terban collected a pair of RBI on a single to right center to give Endicott a 3-0 edge.

Endicott matched runs scored to the number of the inning in the second and doubled that offensive output in the third to go ahead by a lopsided figure, 9-0.

Suffolk erased the shutout in the top of the fourth. Ashley Zulla started things off with a base on balls and turned on her wheels when Savannah Scripter hit a single down the right field line. A wild pitch and one out later, Brooke Cloak scarified herself to help the Rams get on the board.

The lone Rams' run would not be enough as the Gulls stretched their cushion to 15-1 after scoring six in the home half of the fourth.

The ground was too much for Suffolk to make up despite getting two base runners in the top of fifth and the game ended via run-rule in five frames.
