BOSTON – After an action-packed, four-game weekend, Suffolk softball takes its talents across town to face a familiar foe Emmanuel. Game one of the non-conference double feature is scheduled for 6 p.m. with the nightcap directly following at Roberto Clemente Field.

LAST TIME OUT
Softball had a chance to comeback, but ultimately Framingham State held off the Boston Rams' response to setback Suffolk, 4-2, Sunday afternoon at Maple Street Field.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk heads into Thursday's tilts 1-5 with its lone victory of the year coming in a 9-1, run-rule fashion in the midst of a four-game series at Framingham State. 

The Rams offense is striking at .310 average. Ally Cifaratta has proven her worth at the plate. The sophomore already has double-digit hits with 11 behind a .500/.522/.818 slash line. She has brought in team-high six runs along with Leina Belog, Ashley Zulla and Savannah Scripter. Belog and Zulla have each produced eight hits, while Scripter has five knocks to her credit. Caitlin Murphy is a threat offensively as well with five hits, four stolen bases and a squad-best eight runs scored. 

In the circle, Suffolk cycles through three arms. Constance Phelan holds the best numbers through three appearances with a 3.15 era and nine strikeouts. Kennedy Reyes has the most action under her belt with 17.1 innings pitched. She brings in a 4.85 ERA with a staff-best 15 punchouts. Belog, meanwhile, has the most Ks through innings pitched with 12 total strikeouts in 7.1 innings of work.

SAINTS SAYINGS
Emmanuel began its season with a doubleheader at Framingham State. The Saints lost the pair of outings to FSU to enter Thursday's twinbill in the hunt for its first victory of 2021. 

Emmanuel's offense produced 10 hits in its first two games of the year. Maegan Amsler, Jadynne Hill and Renae Lacroix each have two hits to their credit with Amselr and Hill responsible for Saints two doubles with one apiece. Lacroix brought in two of EC's three runs, which were scored by hill, Olivia Conti and Avery Webb.

Tianna Dowe and Megan Long each got the nod in the opening series. Each sat down eight batters. Long boasts a 2.33 ERA, while Dawe's ERA is 7.00.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk and Emmanuel are friendly foes as conference counterparts for multiple years.
  • The Rams own a 44-21 all-time record versus the Saints.
  • The foes will meet for the first time since the 2019 regular season, which was split, each team taking home one win apiece.

SUFFOLK'S SCHEDULE
Following the Thursday tilts, Suffolk turns its attention to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) competition. The Rams head to Wenham, Massachusetts, Saturday, March 27. The Suffolk softball CCC era begins at noon Saturday, March 27 when the Rams head to Wenham, Massachusetts.
