Softball Hits Past Framingham State, 9-1, in Game 1

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Late offense from Suffolk softball, including two homers, pushed the Boston Rams past Framingham State, 9-1, in six innings Sunday afternoon at Maple Street Field.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 9 | Framingham State 1
RECORDS: Suffolk (1-4) | Framingham State (4-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Framingham State took an early edge as one run came across in the home half of the first.

The score hit a stand still until the top of the fifth when Suffolk's offense finally found its grove. Singles from Hailey Cockroft and Ally Cifaratta sandwiched an attempted sac from Caitlin Murphy, but an FSU error allowed the Rams runner to reach and juice the bags. Ashley Zulla's single through the right side gave the blue-and-gold the lead as it scored a pair and Savannah Scripter extended the margin to two with an RBI single of her own.

Suffolk's scoring did not stop there. With runners on first and second, Leina Belog fired a bomb over the left field fence to make things lopsided in the Boston Rams favor, 6-1.

The blue-and-gold did not let it foot off the gas pedal as Scripter sent a ball over the fence in Suffolk's next turn at the plate to extend the visitors advantage to 9-1. The sophomore scored Bianca Luciano and Zulla with her right center home. The former wore a pitch to take first with the later taking advantage of a Framingham State throwing error.

Constance Phelan retired the side to ensure the run-rule victory for Suffolk.
