Framingham State Sneaks by Softball in Series Opener, 2-1

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – A pitcher's duel limited the offensive output on either side and Suffolk softball landed on the wrong side of a 2-1 decision to Framingham State Saturday afternoon at Maple Street Field.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 1 | Framingham State 2
RECORDS: Suffolk (0-3) | Framingham State (3-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Framingham put one run on the board in the second, but Suffolk quickly made up that ground in the top of the third. Leah Kornguth lead off with a single to right field advanced courtesy of Bianca Luciano's sac bunt and rounded the bags thanks to Caitlin Murphy's single to left center.

After a scoreless fourth frame, Framingham State regained its one-run edge. The go-ahead run came behind Laela Pepin's single to left center that brought in Camille Desrocher, who worked a walk to get on.

Suffolk's turn to play catch-up did not come in the sixth as the Rams' hitters went down in order. The blue-and-gold defense backed up reliever Leina Belog on the rubber to keep the one-run game going and set-up what could be an edge of your seat seventh.

With one out, Ira Boci managed to punch a single through to right field. The game-tying run was stranded, however, as the next two Suffolk hitters could not keep the rally going and things ended in the Framingham Rams favor, 2-1.
