Men’s Cross Country Wins Battle for Boston Commons

BOSTON – For the fourth consecutive time, Suffolk men's cross country captured the Battle for Boston Commons, a head-to-head dual with Emerson, 16-47, Saturday afternoon at Franklin Park.

Since 2018, Suffolk and Emerson have raced one another for bragging rights. The Rams have taken home every title since the inaugural friendly competition in 2018. Runners in blue-and-gold grabbed the first four spots in the 17-runner field to keep the trophy on Beacon Hill.

Tim Barry outran the entire field, finishing the 8k-course in 26.40, 21 seconds faster than teammate Thomas Novy, who clocked a 27:01. Hayden Green was 34 seconds behind Novy. Cole Bolduc was right on Green's heels, three seconds after him to be exact, to complete the top four.

Emerson's Oliver Green slipped into the fifth spot, however Rams runners took sixth through eighth in Conor Garrity (28:31), Luke Sikora (28:35) and Connor Hayward (28:39) to push Suffolk to victory yet again.

The event was a part of the Suffolk Invitational, the Rams' annual meet at Franklin park. This year, both the Battle for Boston Commons and the invite served as final prep for Suffolk before the 2022 CCC Championship that is on tap for Saturday, Oct. 29 at Rotary State Park in Biddeford, Maine.
