Cross Country to Race at UMass Dartmouth Invitational Saturday


BOSTON – After a week of rest, Suffolk cross country returns to action this Saturday, Sept. 17 when it takes its talents to the UMass Dartmouth Invitational. The blue-and-gold will be featured in all four heats with action scheduled to get underway at 10:30 a.m. Fans can watch the action here and follow the live results here

Suffolk men's cross country turned in a sixth-place performance at the Short Course Classic Sept. 2 at Franklin Park.

LAST TIME OUT [ WOMEN ] 
Suffolk women's cross country pulled the curtain back on its 2022 season with a fifth-place performance at its own Short Course Classic Sept. 2 after Franklin Park.

INVITATIONAL INFORMATION
The UMass Dartmouth Invitational, an annual event in its 49th year, is run on the Corsairs' Robert Dowd Course and is the biggest early season race in New England. 

THE HEATS
Four different heats will race mid-morning to early afternoon.  

Competition commences with the sub varsity men's five-mile run at 10:30 a.m. with the men's varsity 8k, Robert "Buddy" Harris' gun firing 45 minutes later. The women are scheduled for a varsity 5k at 12 p.m. with the women's junior varsity event concluding the day at 12:45 p.m. 

THE COURSE
Suffolk will be racing across the Corsairs campus as both the women's 5k and the men's 8k are filtered through the woods surrounding the athletic facilities of UMass Dartmouth. 

THE FIELD
Runners from every NCAA Division are headed to Dartmouth, Massachusetts, this Saturday Over 40 squads will be represented in the field including many of the Rams' Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) counterparts like Endicott, Gordon and Roger Williams.

RANK AND FILE [ WOMEN ] 
For the second straight week, Suffolk women's cross country appeared in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's (USTFCCCA) Coaches Regional Rankings. The Rams remained ninth in the East after their efforts in the season-opening effort at the Short Course Classic last Friday, Sept. 2.

WHAT'S AHEAD?
Suffolk is set to take its talent up to Brunswick, Maine, next weekend, Saturday, Sept. 14 for the Bowdoin Invitational.
