Men’s Cross Country Earns First-Ever USTFCCCA Regional Ranking

NEW ORLEANS – One week into the 2021 Suffolk men's cross country season, the Rams' program has made in's inaugural debut on the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regional rankings as the national organization unveiled in an announcement made Tuesday afternoon. In the week 1 edition of the weekly coaches' poll, the blue-and-gold appeared in the top 10 in the East.

For the first time in program history, the Rams men made their way into the poll and did so in the eighth position. This comes a week after the men finished third in Suffolk's Short Course Classic at Franklin Park where the blue-and-gold finished third in a meet that featured opponents from every NCAA Division. 

The USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Coaches' Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning teams' strengths with current season results, when applicable, in determining in a rank-order of squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible to receive a ranking. The weekly regional ranking by the USTFCCCA began in 2010. 

After a rest week, Suffolk is back to its competition schedule this weekend when it heads to the UMass Dartmouth Invitational Saturday, Sept. 18.
