History Made: Csiki-Fejer Becomes Outdoor Track & Field All-American

GENEVA, Ohio – Matyas Csiki-Fejer of the Suffolk men's outdoor track & field team ended his career as a Ram with an exclamation point as the senior long-distance runner raced to All-American status at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the SPIRE Institute Saturday.

Csiki-Fejer, the first-ever Suffolk male student-athlete to make the outdoor national field, became the first to capture All-America distinction as well, as he put together a podium finish in the 5000. The Manchester, Missouri product burst out to the top four by the first split and stayed within the top six throughout every checkpoint to finish the event in 14:30.07, good for third in the 19-runner field. He was just under two seconds behind NCAA Champion Jamie Dailey of JCU and one second after runner up Grahm Tuohy Gaydos of Williams.

Csiki-Fejer is Suffolk's second student-athlete with a pair of All-America nods to their credit, first since Rams' Hall of Famer Jess Ferreira '09 earned two NFCA All-America accolades for her performance on the softball diamond in 2006 and 2009.

The accolade caps off a historic, record-setting Suffolk career for Csiki-Fejer. This year alone he completed the trifecta, making and competing at all three NCAA Championships – cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field. In the fall he garnered All-America honors, the first Ram to do so, with his 35th-place performance. In indoors he was just outside All-American recognition with a ninth-place finish in the 3000.

Over the course of his career, he has competed at nationals four times, twice in cross country, once in indoor and outdoor track & field, respectively. He has been recognized a half dozen times regionally across cross country and track & field and has been awarded a conference's top runner or track athlete of the year four times since 2019 to go along with numerous league individual championships and multiple all-conference accolades.
