Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Takes Seventh at Monks Invitational

STANDISH, Maine – Suffolk men's outdoor track & field saw 10 top-10 finishes at the Monks Invitational Saturday afternoon for the Rams to claim seventh in the 15-team field at the SJC Athletic Complex.  

Suffolk's combined score of 36 was good for seventh overall, which landed in the middle of the 15-team field. Southern Maine won the event with 135 with Maine Farmington (100) and Husson (35) and Thomas College (85) rounding out the podium.  

Turner Mitchell opened the day in the 100 with a 14th-place performance on a time of 12.02.  

The freshman also ran the 200 alongside Robert Solari and Cole Bolduc. Solari was the standout Suffolk student-athlete in the 32-runner field as he clocked a 23.59 to claim seventh. Bolduc was three spots behind Solari in 10th thanks to a time of 24.01. Mitchell rounded out the Rams in the event in 14th as he finished the half lap in 24.85. 

Bolduc also sprinted the 400 and finished on the podium in third thanks to his 52.10 showing. 

Both Luke Sikora and Evan Wright registered personal-records in the 800 and finished one after another in fifth and sixth, respectively. Sikora logged a 2:03.26, while Wright was just 0:0.13 behind that. Nico Miele was featured in the 20-runner field as well and claimed 14th on a time of 2:11.56. 

In the long-distance events, Kely Maloney and Jadan Wenceslao ran the 1500 and Zachary Martin made his collegiate debut in the 5000. Maloney (4:18.41) and Wenceslao (4:26.91) both finished in the top-10 in the 1500 with the former taking fourth and the latter securing eighth. Martin, meanwhile, grabbed seventh in the 5000 with a time of 17:33.68. 

Gavin Reid was the only Rams jumper at the event. He combined his three leaps for to clear 12.32 meters, a personal-best, in the triple jump, good for seventh. 

Edward Abouzeid (sixth - 41.91) and Joshua Smith (13th - 30.91) competed in the javelin and Eddie McCarthy(seventh - 10.97) competed in the shot put.  

Suffolk will be back in action this weekend, Saturday, April 23 at MIT's Sean Collier Invitational.
