Outdoor Track & Field Splits Up at Three Events this Weekend

BOSTON – Suffolk outdoor track & field has a full weekend of action ahead with three events over two days. The Rams will send student-athletes to the Regis Spring Invite Friday, April 8 with the Gordon Invitational on tap for Saturday, April 9. The Duke Invitational is also on the weekend slate Friday, April 8.

LAST TIME OUT [ MEN ]
Suffolk men's outdoor track & field had the majority of its roster in action for the first time in 2022 as the Rams competed at the highly competitive Tufts Snowflake Classic at Dussault Track.

LAST TIME OUT [ WOMEN ]
Suffolk women's outdoor track & field team compiled its first team result of the 2022 season as the Rams captured 10th at the Tufts Snowflake Classic Saturday at Dussault Track.

DUKE INVITATIONAL
Senior captain Matyas Csiki-Fejer received an invitation to compete in Durham, North Carolina. He will be the only Division III athlete competing Friday, doing so in the 5k. The event features top athletes from NC State, Boston University, Duke Michigan and UNC. The long-distance runner looks to run between 14:10-14:20, which should be good enough for a top-10 performance nationally. 

REGIS SPRING INVITE
Suffolk will be showcasing its throwers at Regis, specifically in the javelin and hammer throw.  

Edward Abouzeid will look to improve upon his strong showing from last weekend, while freshman Olivia Nicholsonwill look to establish herself as a contender in the javelin. 

Matthew Smith is looking for a strong performance in the discus and aims to break his own school record in the event. Frank Irizarry will be attempting to join Michael Balestra and Caitlyn Filloramo as a regional qualifier in the hammer throw.  

On the track, Rams runners Robert Solari and Amanda Walden aim to achieve qualifying marks in the 200. 

GORDON INVITATIONAL
The Gordon Invitational will serve as a CCC Championship preview. The Fighting Scots will be hosting the 2022 conference championship and the top teams from the league will be competing in Wenham, Massachusetts Saturday.  

The men's and women's hurdlers will make their outdoor debuts. Carter Nevulis will attempt to qualify for regionals. Klaudia RushiJulia HuntCatherine Madden will look to establish themselves as three of the top hurdlers in the CCC after sweeping the podium at the indoor GNAC Championships.

RAMS RECOGNITION [ MEN ] 
For the second time in as many weeks and in program history, Suffolk men's outdoor track & field saw student-athletes receive weekly recognition from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC). Matyas Csiki-Fejer was named Track Athlete, while Thomas Novy and Edward Abouzeid earned rookie of the week status in track and field, respectively. The weekly accolades come on the heels of performances from last weekend's Tufts Snowflake Classic.

RAMS RECOGNITION [ WOMEN ] 
Caitlyn Filloramo of the Suffolk women's outdoor track & field team secured Commonwealth Conference (CCC) Field Rookie of the Week status after her standout showing at the Tufts Snowflake Classic over the weekend.

SUFFOLK'S SCHEDULE
Suffolk will send its entire team up to the Granite State next weekend, Saturday, April 16 for the Penmen Relays at Penmen Stadium on the campus of Southern New Hampshire University in Hooksett, New Hampshire.
