Barry Headlines Men’s Outdoor Track & Field CCC Honors

CCC RELEASE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – For the first time in program history, Suffolk men's outdoor track & field was acknowledged by the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) with weekly awards as Tim Barry garnered Track Rookie of the Week and the Rams' 4x400 was named Relay Team of the Week, the league office unveiled.

Barry and the blue-and-gold's 4x400, made up of Selvin BackertRobert SolariJoshua Durand and Cole Bolduc, are not only the first Suffolk student-athletes to receive weekly recognition from the CCC, but are a part of conference history as the first-ever weekly honorees as the league presented weekly accolades for the first time in its annals. The CCC weekly distinctions come after the conference announced that men's track and field was elevated to CCC Championship status earlier this month.

Barry, who hails Westborough, Massachusetts, made his outdoor debut at the BSU Bears Invitational hosted by Bridgewater State Saturday. He placed second in the 1500 with a time of 4:03.19, less than two seconds behind the winner, TJ Corliss of Merrimack. That mark puts the sophomore at fourth in the region, and first in the CCC in the event thus far through the season.

Suffolk's quartet of Backert, Solari, Durand and Bolduc were runner-up in the 4x400 relay at Bridgewater State over the weekend. The foursome completed the race in 3:29.71, which sits 54th on the NCAA DIII Outdoor Qualifying List, fourth in the region and tops the league.

The Rams will be back in action this weekend, Saturday, April 2 at Tufts Snowflake Classic.
