Csiki-Fejer, Balestra Compete at NEICAAA Championship

NEW BRITAN, Conn. – Over the weekend, Suffolk men's outdoor track & field junior captains Matyas Csiki-Fejer and Michael Balestra participated at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championship at Veteran's Stadium.

The NEICAAA boasts a 130-plus years of tradition at the meet, which began in 1887. The historical event did not put pressure of Csiki-Fejer as the St. Louis, Missouri native paced the 10,000-meter 12-runner pack. He led from the get-go and never looked back to finish first in the second oldest track meet in the United States with a time of 30:47.31. That performance is a personal best for the Rams' distance runner and ranks 23rd in NCAA Division III this year.

Balestra, meanwhile, landed in the middle of the 21-thrower pack in the hammer throw. The Lincoln, Rhode Island, product lobbed a 48.65-meter toss to finish 12th.

Suffolk will continue to push for a place at nationals over the next week.
