Men’s Indoor Track & Field Takes Sixth at Branwen Smith-King Invitational

MEDFORD, Mass. – Suffolk men's indoor track & field compiled its first team score of the season as the Rams turned in a sixth-place performance at Tufts' Branwen Smith-King Invitational Saturday at the Gantcher Field House.  

RREGIONAL RAMS

  • Brady Sorensen sealed his spot at NCAA Division III New Englands in the long jump with a 6.57-meter leap. 

RAMS RUNNERS

  • Tunrer Mitchell and Joshua Durand logged top-20 performances in the 60. Mitchell ran a 7.43, good for 14th, and Durand clocked a 7.60 to claim 18th. 
  • Durand also had a top-20 effort in the 200 in 19th behind a time of 24.55. Carter Nevulis (24.61) was one spot behind his teammate in 20th. 
  • John Avakian and Andrew Tansil took spots in the top-10 in the 400. The former's 55.91 put him in eighth, while the latter finished his lap around the track in 56.71, two spots behind Avakian. 
  • Kely Maloney's 1:29.85 in the 600 put the senior in sixth in the 16-runner field. 
  • Luke Sikora (2:04.71) and Patrick Lambe (2:08.48) finished fourth and seventh, respectively, in the 800. 
  • The 1000 featured a quartet of Rams in Evan Wright (2:41.28), Sean Jacobsen (2:46.75), Jacob Dubin(2:48.50) and Cam Fredette (2:48.66). Wright highlighted the group with a sixth-place showing. 
  • Hayden Green finished in the middle of the 12-runner pack in the 3000 behind a time of 9:09.97. 
  • Nevulis was runner-up in the 60 hurdles with an 8.70 finals' time.  

POLE VAULT POSITIONS

JUMPERS JIST

  • Sorensen leapt 6.57 meters in the long jump to take fourth in the 27-jumper field that featured Michael Frodelius (5.74) and Kai Mohammed (4.58). 

THROWERS THOUGHTS

  • Eddie McCarthy presented the Rams in the shot put with a 10.01-meter heave.  

RAMS RECORDS

  • Durand's 7.60 in the 60 is a personal best.
  • Avakian produced a PR of 55.91 in the 400. 
  • Lambe logged a career-high of 2:08.48 in the 800. 
  • Jadan Wenceslao produced a PR of 4:42.70 in the mile. 
  • Frodelius rewrote his long jump PR at 5.74. 

 YOU'RE NEW HERE

  • Tansil ran the 400 for the first time in his collegiate career. 
  • Maloney competed the 600 for the first time. 
  • Jacobsen, Dubin and Fredette made their 1000 debuts.
