BOSTON – In search of its first victory of the season, Suffolk men's tennis hits the road for Commonwealth Coast Conference matches at Curry and Wentworth. The Rams will clash with the Colonels Monday, April 8 at 3:30 p.m. before facing the Leopards Tuesday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the duPont Tennis Courts at MIT.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk men's tennis was blanked by Nichols, 9-0, Saturday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at Belmont Hill.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk is 0-4 on the year and 0-2 in CCC contests with setbacks to Gordon (8-1) and Nichols (9-0) in league play.  

Nicholas Komari has played exclusively in the top singles spot for the blue-and-gold. The freshman holds a 2-2 record. 

In doubles action, Komari has competed in all four matches as part of the top tandem. He has played with Matthew Gallego twice and Hasan Esrawi and Sam Kluger once each. Suffolk has yet to capture a doubles point this season.  

COLONELS CATCHUP
Curry holds an 0-3 overall record and 0-1 CCC mark. The Colonels were shutout by Eastern Nazarene and Western New England and fell to UMass Boston, 7-2. 

Byran Shields has been a staples as the Colonels ace. He is also a usual as the No. 1 doubles team alongside Eric Flynn. Shields has yet to find the win column in singles (0-3) or doubles (0-3). 

Naytick Vora is the only singles racket with a win as he scooped up a decision against the Beacons at No. 4. Nick Norman and Zach Aidrich are responsible for Curry's other point as the third doubles partnership sits 1-2 on the year. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk is 7-1 all-time in the series with the Colonels. 
  • The Rams have won three matches in a row against Curry. 
  • Suffolk is unbeaten, 2-0, versus Curry under Scott Blanchard's guidance.  

LEOPARDS LOOK
Wentworth rides a two-match win streak into Tuesday's tilt with Suffolk. The Leopards downed Saint Joseph (Conn.), 7-2, and Western new England, 8-1, to carry a 6-6 overall ledger and 1-1 CCC mark into the action with the Rams. 

Daniel Gallegos has played the majority of time at No. 1 singles for WIT and sports a 5-3 record. Manas Arya has the most productive singles racket at 7-6 with time at No. 2 (0-2), No. 3 (3-2) and No. 4 (4-1).  

Gallegos has combined forces with Rene Rodriguez for the most successful doubles team at 5-1. That duo is unbeaten, 4-0, on the first doubles court.  

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk is 8-4 against Wentworth since 2009. 
  • The Rams look to snap a four-match skid versus the Leopards.
  • The last time Suffolk defeated WIT was via a 5-4 decision March 26, 2015.
