BOSTON – Suffolk men's tennis begins its home calendar Wednesday, April 5 when it welcomes Western New England to Belmont Hill for a Commonwealth Coast Conference affair. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk men's tennis was kept off the scoreboard by Nichols, 9-0, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference affair Saturday night at the Blodgett Tennis Center at the Pomfret School.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk is 1-3 on the season and 0-3 in CCC contests. The Rams' lone victor game at Bridgewater State via. 5-4 decision March 30.  

Mehdi Mered has played all four matches as the blue-and-gold's ace. He is 1-3 on the year along with Daniel Dayn (No. 2) and Mikhail Reilly (No. 5). Diego Hernandez-Pons has been the most successful singles player for Suffolk thus far with a 4-4 leger all on the fourth court.  

In doubles, Hernandez-pons and Mered are the only twosome to enter the win column and sit 1-3 as the second tandem. 

GET TO KNOW THE GOLDEN BEARS
Western New England is 2-6 on the year and 1-2 in CCC contests with a 9-0 sweep of Curry March 26. The Golden Bears have fallen in back-to-back matches, an 8-1 setback to Salve Regina followed by a 9-0 decision at Endicott. 

Nick Bayer has played the most time as WNE's top singles player. He is 1-4 on the year. Brandon Greger, who is 1-7 on the season, has also seen action at No. 1. Michael Robichaud boasts the best singles mark of 4-4 split between positions two (1-30 and four (3-1). 

Bayer and Greger are the usual top tandem in doubles play and are 2-4. Robichaud and Thomas Roche hold a 2-5 record split between courts one (1-0) and two (1-5). Tyler Macdowall and Paul Riccio are 2-4 exclusively at No. 3. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk and Western New England met for the first time a year ago.
