Esrawi Named Men’s Tennis Captain

BOSTON – With the 2022 season around the corner, senior Hasan Esrawi will lead the Suffolk men's tennis team as captain, interim head coach Scott Blanchard announced Wednesday.

"Hasan, brings into the season a wealth of experience, having been one of the few to actually play in matches," Blancahrd said. "He has also been the driving force along with the other seniors to make sure this team stays relevant and move forward in the transition from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC)."

Esrawi, a four-year member of the team, has seen action solely in his freshman season in 2019, before being sidelined for two consecutive years due to the pandemic. In his first campaign, the Braintree native gained valuable collegiate experience, picking up two singles wins and one doubles victory as a rookie.

In the classroom, Eswari has been a stellar student, garnering multiple academic awards, including ITA Scholar-Athlete twice, to go along with all-conference academic awards from the CCC and GNAC, as well as five AD Honor Roll selections.

Eswari will help guide an eight-man roster that includes three newcomers to the squad this spring. The team will look to navigate an 11-match schedule, including its first CCC slate, which kicks off on Saturday, March 26 at Curry. First serve of the 2022 campaign is two days prior, Thursday, March 24, at Eastern Nazarene.
