Men's Tennis Rally For First Win of the Season

The Suffolk University Men's Tennis team earned their first win of the 2013 campaign with a 5-4 victory over the Wentworth Institute of Technology on Thursday evening.

Suffolk took five of six singles matches to earn the win as they pull to an even 1-1 mark to start 2013, the loss was the first of the season for Wentworth who drops to 3-1.

After three straight losses in doubles competition to put themselves in a 3-0 hole, Suffolk would take three straight singles matches.

Junior Drew Reilly (Boston, Mass.) picked up Suffolk's first win of the evening in the number three singles spot as he was a victor in 6-3, 6-0 sets.

Seniors Aaron Lau (Hong Kong, China) and Dachuan Zhu (Beijing, China) would win their singles matches in the number two and four spots respectively as the Rams were able to even up the team scores at three all.

After a loss in the top singles match, senior German Krohn (Olavarria, Argentina) was a 6-3, 6-1 winner in the sixth position to pull things back even.

Junior Vassili Stroganov (Hoersholm, Germany) secured the Suffolk victory as he took home the game deciding singles set, 7-5, 6-4 in the number five spot.

Suffolk will be back on the courts on Tuesday afternoon as they travel to Rhode Island College for a 3:30pm non-conference matchup with the Anchormen.
