Valck Tabbed CCC Rookie of the Week, Again

CCC RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – For the second time this season, Francisco Valck of the Suffolk men's soccer team was named Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week after producing one game-winning goal and two assists in a 2-0-0 week for the Rams, the league office announced.

To get the week going at MIT, the freshman assisted on the game-opening goal before potting the game-winner with 31 seconds remaining in regulation to push Suffolk to a 3-2 victory over the Engineers. The win is the blue-and-gold's third-ever over MIT, second straight.

At Hartford on Saturday, the Weston, Florida, native set-up the eventual game-winner in a 2-1 decision over the Hawks. That victory pushed Suffolk's win streak to five, the program's longest since rattling off five wins in a row Sept. 20-Oct. 4, 2006.

Valck's second rookie of the week nod this year kept Suffolk's streak alive of being featured in the CCC weekly in ever edition of 2023 to date. On top of Valck's two awards, five Rams have combined for seven weekly accolades. Nathan Harlow owns three in two Defensive Players of the Week and one Rookie of the Week, while Diego Pierantozzi and Xander Balog were named the best offensive and defensive players over a seven-day stretch once, respectively. The seven weekly awards in one season ties a program record for the Rams, which was set by the 2016 squad.

Valck and Suffolk return to action tonight as they test their test at Boston College at 5:30 p.m.
