Sorensen Named CCC Rookie of the Week

CCC RELEASE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Brady Sorensen of the Suffolk men's soccer team garnered Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week honors after producing one goal in each of the Rams' games over the week, the league office announced Monday.

The Plymouth, Massachusetts, native opened the week in the hero role as he netted the golden goal 5:37 into overtime to lift Suffolk to a 1-0 victory over Lesley. At Western New England Saturday, he put away the game-tying goal in the first frame against the Golden Bears to keep the Rams in the game.

Sorensen is responsible for both of Suffolk's goals in the last two games and has had a hand in five of the Rams' 18 total markers this season. He sits second on the team in points (9) and goals scored (4).

Although he is a sophomore, Sorensen is eligible for rookie of the week status after his freshman campaign was derailed a year ago due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He is the second Rams to be named the league's best rookie over a seven-day stretch this season. Miguel Varela grabbed the same recognition Sept. 20. The Rams have now picked up three weekly honors – the pair of rookie nods and Nigel Leo's CCC Player of the Week award Sept. 8.

Sorensen and Suffolk will be back in action tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 5 when it looks to upset No. 21 Babson. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
