BOSTON – Suffolk men's soccer heads out on the road with a trip to Springfield, Massachusetts on tap Saturday, Oct. 2 for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) clash at Western New England. First kick is set for 3 p.m.

SUFFOLK ATHLETICS 2021-22 FAN POLICY
Suffolk University Athletics, following guidance from the University's health and safety protocols, Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), Centers for Disease Control and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, plans to allow fans to attend home athletic contests during the 2021-22 academic and athletic year.

Fans, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, can attend games. They must be masked the entire time they are on campus, pursuant to institutional policy, and complete a health screening form at the security desk of each building upon arrival. This policy applies to home contests played on campus at the Ridgeway Building's Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court, as well as the Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink and the Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

For outdoor outings, specifically at East Boston Memorial Park, fans are asked to respect COVID safety protocols. At this time, masks will not be mandated for fans no matter vaccinated status at outdoor venues.

RAMS RUNDOWN
After a thrilling 1-0 OT win over Lesley in Eastie on Tuesday, Suffolk men's soccer improved to 5-4-0 on the season.

Brady Sorenson's goal in the extra time propelled the Rams to their first overtime victory since Oct. 30, 2019. With the golden goal, the sophomore from Plymouth, Massachusetts became tied for third on the team in points with freshman Edward Abouzeid, with seven. The former's stat line features three markers and one helper, while the latter has set-up seven shots. The duo fall behind freshman Miguel Varela (4g, 1a), who sits second with nine points, and graduate student Nigel Leo (5g, 1a) leads the Rams' scoring attack with 11 points.

Suffolk has turned to three different goalies throughout the campaign. Xander Balog's four starts (1.98 GAA, .636 save %) remain the most out of the trio. Alfredo Serrano Figueroa has posted a 1.02 GAA with a .700 save percentage through three starts and Tom Bennett (2.00 GAA, .429 save %) has seen action in the box twice.

GET TO KNOW THE GOLDEN BEARS
Western New England sits atop the CCC standings entering Saturday's meeting, as one of three teams boasting a 2-0-0 conference record. Overall, the Golden Bears hold a 6-2-1 record with three wins and one loss coming at the friendly confines of Suprenant Field. 

Through nine tests, WNE holds a sizable 140-43 shot advantage over their opponents, while scoring 1.89 goals per game. Mike Milazzo leads the offensive push with 11 points coming off four goals and three assists and Matt Remillard sits second with nine points on the season behind an evenly divided stat line of three markers and three helpers. 

Keeper Brady Allen has played all, but one of the Golden Bears games in net. He holds a 5-2-1 record with a .848 save percentage and .064 save percentage through eight starts.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk is 1-5-0 against Western New England since 2002.
  • The Rams and WNE will battle for the first time in over a decade. The two last tangled Oct. 7, 2006 in Springfield, Massachusetts, where the Golden Bears edged the blue-and-gold, 2-0.
  • The blue-and-gold last defeated WNE, Oct. 11, 2003, 1-0.
  • Five of the matchups between the Rams and Golden Bears resulted in shutouts. Suffolk is 1-4 in those bouts.
