BOSTON – Suffolk men's soccer will make its highly anticipated Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) debut this Saturday, Sept. 18 when the Rams tangle with Gordon at 3:00 p.m. at East Boston Memorial Park's James A. Sartori Stadium.

SUFFOLK ATHLETICS 2021-22 FAN POLICY
Suffolk University Athletics, following guidance from the University's health and safety protocols, Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), Centers for Disease Control and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, plans to allow fans to attend home athletic contests during the 2021-22 academic and athletic year.

Fans, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, can attend games. They must be masked the entire time they are on campus, pursuant to institutional policy, and complete a health screening form at the security desk of each building upon arrival. This policy applies to home contests played on campus at the Ridgeway Building's Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court, as well as the Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink and the Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

For outdoor outings, specifically at East Boston Memorial Park, fans are asked to respect COVID safety protocols. At this time, masks will not be mandated for fans no matter vaccinated status at outdoor venues.

RESIDENT RAMS DAY
Suffolk Athletics will host promotions, giveaways and special events throughout the 2021-22 year with the first on the calendar on Saturday, Sept. 18.

On the first Saturday of September that multiple Suffolk University fall teams – men's and women's soccer and volleyball -- will be hosting events, Ram Nation will celebrate its resident hall students in a Resident Rams day. Tenants of one of Suffolk's five on-campus residence halls, who attend one of Suffolk's home events on Saturday, Sept. 18 will receive a special-edition Suffolk Athletics Resident Rams t-shirt.

LAST TIME OUT
Nigel Leo converted a penalty kick at the 46:10-minute mark to give the Suffolk men's soccer team the lead it held to the rest of the way to take a 2-1 win over Framingham State Wednesday night at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park.

SUFFOLK SCORES

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk leveled its record at .500 (3-3-0) Wednesday, Sept. 15 as the Rams bested Framingham State, 2-1. 

Nigel Leo and Miguel Varela provide the one-two punch for the Rams offensive. The former, a graduate transfer, has found the back of the net in all five games the blue-and-gold has produced a point. Leo currently leads the team in goals with five markers and is the only Suffolk student-athlete in double digits for points with 11. Varela, meanwhile, has made his name known as a freshman with four goals, good for second on the squad. Edward Abouzeid aids to Suffolk's scoring as well with a team-best seven helpers.

The Rams have cycled through four different gloves in net this year. Xander Balog has the most experience in 2021. The freshman holds a 2.64 GAA and a .619 save percentage. Tom Bennett (1.00 GAA, .500 save %), Murad Kup, and Alfredo Serrano Figueroa (1.59 GAA, .667 save %) have seen time in between the posts as well.

FIGHTING SCOTS FACTS
Gordon has been on a see-saw of wins and losses through the first four games of the year to sit 2-2-0 overall. All four of the Fighting Scots affairs have been shutouts. Gordon blanked Framingham State (5-0) and Fitchburg State (6-0) and was kept off the scoreboard by identical 2-0 margins by Wheaton and Colby. 

Chase Gwynn is responsible for nearly half of the Fighting Scots 11 goals as the xxx xxx scored five himself. Luckson Dambo (1g, 2a), Roddy Ngolomingi (1g, 1a), Julius Swaim (1g, 1a), Isaac Bennett (1g), George Coogan IV (1g) and Ryan Modzeleski (1g) have pitched in one goal apiece.

Brody Veleber has seen the bulk of the action in net. He boasts a 1.33 GAA and a .692 save percentage in his three appearances. Thomas Reardon, meanwhile, put together a complete-game, one-game shutout versus Fitchburg State in his only playing time this year.
