Men’s Soccer Receives USC Team Academic Award for 2017-18

2017-18 USC College Team Academic Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Suffolk men's soccer team was recognized for its efforts inside the classrooms as the Rams earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award distinction for the 2017-18 season, the national organization announced Thursday morning.

The highest academic team honor is bestowed upon programs that are current members of United Soccer Coaches with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale.

Across three divisions 773 teams – 289 men, 484 women – earned the Team Academic Award, including 191 institutions that had both their men's and women's programs among the recipients. Suffolk was one of the 1919w with both its men's and women's squads each achieving the feat, the only GNAC institution to do so. It is the third time in Suffolk history that each of its soccer programs were recognized for their efforts inside the classroom and first since 2010.

The Rams combined for a 3.16 cumulative GPA. Suffolk was one of just two GNAC men's teams on the list with Saint Joseph's (Maine) earning the feat as well.
