EAST BOSTON – Suffolk men's soccer suffered its second straight setback as Regis defeated the Rams, 3-1, Saturday afternoon at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk commanded the first 45 minutes, outshooting Regis, 20-2 including 12 attempts on target. Jesse Bonilla stood tall for Regis in between the posts to keep the blue and gold off the scoreboard. On the other end of the pitch, all the Pride needed was its lone shot on goal as Derek Triana's shot with just under 10 minutes remaining in the half found the back of the netting to give the visitors a 1-0 edge.  

All the Pride needed to take a two-goal lead was its second strike on target. Three minutes into the second half Triana lengthened the Prides' to 2-0 on another breakaway. 

The pattern didn't break for Regis as its third attempt on target slipped passed Brodeur once again. This time the goal came off Litchie Barbosa's corner kick with Collin Thurston's using his head to push the Pride's advantage to three goals with less than 20 minutes remaining.

Suffolk used its own corner to get on the scoreboard four minutes later. Declan Mee sent the corner in and Felipe Ucros put it away to put the Rams in shooting distance.

Despite picking up the pace and trying to regain ground, Suffolk could not convert on one of its two attempts as Jesse Bonilla continued to stand tall for the Pride and secure the 3-1 win for Regis.

GOALS

• The Pride pushed the ball up the field and Triana stormed past the Rams' backline for a one-on-one breakaway. The junior midfielder drew Jon Brodeur to the left and scored on the lower right in the 36th minute to give Regis a 1-0 lead.
• After Regis was whistled for a foul, the Rams' defense attempted a clear, but Triana had other things in mind as he picked up the pieces, dribbled past a Suffolk defender for his second one-on-one with Brodeur. History repeated itself as Triana fired from the left and connected right in the 48th minute for his second goal of the afternoon and eighth of the year
• Barbosa's lifted his corner into the center of the Rams' net where Thurston jumped over the crowd and headed the ball into the net to give the Pride a 3-0 cushion at the 71:14-minute mark.
• Mee's corner kick flew to the cluster in front and Ucros chipped it in. The sophomore's third goal of the year trimmed the Rams' deficit to two goals in the 76th minute. 

KEEPING UP WITH THE KPEERS

• Brodeur made one save in his first setback of the season.
• Bonilla had a day in net for the Pride, registering 16 saves in the victory.  

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

• Suffolk held a commanding lead in shots, 27-9, with the Rams peppering Bonilla with 18 attempts compared to the Pride's four shots on target.
• Each team had four corner kicks.  

NOTEWORTHY

• Mee recorded his first collegiate point and his first point as a Ram.
