Men's Soccer Duo Named to GNAC All-Conference Teams

A pair of Suffolk University Men's Soccer players earned selection to the 2014 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference teams.

Freshman Alberto Bittan (Caracas, Venezuela) was a second team All-Conference selection as a forward, while sophomore Ben Daniels (Nantucket, Mass.) was a third team All-Conference selection as a defender.

Bittan finished the season as Suffolk's leading goal scorer despite missing the final two weeks of the season with a hamstring injury. The freshman forward struck for nine goals in 13 games on the season and was fifth in the GNAC among all goal scorers on the season. Bittan was named the GNAC Rookie of the Week on October 21 after he recorded his first career hat trick in a 5-2 victory over Anna Maria College. He had three multi-goal games on the season, which also included a two goal night in a 2-0 victory over eventual conference champion Johnson & Wales University on September 27. Bittan was one of the most active offensive players in the league as he finished third with 72 shots put out on the season averaging a league high 5.5 per game.

Daniels finished the season tied for third on the team in points with nine (3 goals, 3 assists). He was the lone Suffolk player to appear in all 17 games on the season. He scored Suffolk's first goal of the 2014 season against Tufts University and also added markers against Regis College and Mount Ida College. He was selected to the 2013 GNAC All-Sportsmanship team.

Suffolk finished the 2014 season with a 5-10-2 overall record qualifying for the seventh seed in the GNAC Tournament with a 3-4-2 conference mark. Suffolk feel to second seed Norwich University, 6-2 in the GNAC quarterfinals.
