Offense Rolls as Men's Soccer Tops Eastern Nazarene 5-3

The Suffolk University Men's Soccer team topped the Eastern College Nazarene Lions by a 5-3 score on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.

Senior Juan Lazcano Bello (Madrid, Spain) finished with two goals and an assist while junior Alberto Bittan (Caracas, Venezuela) also added a pair of strikes to lead Suffolk to their second win of the season.

The Lions would score the game's first goal just eleven minutes into the contest when Salvatore Cuneo tapped in his second goal of the season for the early edge.

From there Suffolk would score five straight goals in a fifty minute span. Lazcano Bello would knock in his first goal of the game and first of the season in the eighteenth minute when his shot from just outside the box evened the game at a goal a piece.

Just two minutes later Bittan would put Suffolk on top as he was able to move in and deke the Lions' goalkeeper to score from outside the 18-yard line. Lazcano Bello would add on to the lead with five minutes remaining in the first half as his second tally made it a 3-1 Suffolk edge heading into the break.

Suffolk would again strike with two goals in a two minute span to open the scoring in the second half. Bittan would net home his team leading third goal of the season in the fifty-seventh minute of the contest as he worked his way deep into the Lions' zone for the three goal edge. Sophomore Adbul Gaid (East Boston, Mass.) would then knock home his first career collegiate goal as his header was set up by Lazcano Bello and sophomore Ben Daniels (Nantucket, Mass.).

The win moves Suffolk to a 2-5 overall mark on the season. They'll be back in action on Saturday evening as they host Johnson & Wales University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Dilboy Stadium beginning at 7:30pm.
