BOSTON – Suffolk men's hockey returns to Commonwealth Coast Conference competition this weekend with a home-and-home series against Western New England. The Rams will host the Golden Bears Friday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink, before the blue-and-gold heads to Springfield, Massachusetts Saturday, Dec. 2 for 7 p.m. rematch with WNE.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk men's hockey wrapped up its weekend at the Bowdoin Colby Classic with a 6-3 setback to Colby at The Jack Kelly Rink Sunday afternoon. The Mules scored three straight goals in the third period to break a 2-all tie and skate away with the victory.

SUFFOLK SCORES

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk (1-9-0, 0-6-0 CCC) looks to snap an eight-game skid.  

The Rams have found the back of the net 21 times this year. Devin Lowe has been a big factor into the blue-and-gold's offense. The graduate student owns three goals and six assists to top the team in points (9). Joe O'Brien (1g, 6a) and Carter Schram (3g, 4a) share second on the squad with seven points apiece. 

Kannon Flageolle (4.21 GAA, .891 save%) and Chris Jackson (4.92 GAA, .845 save%) have split time in net for the Rams. Flageolle is the lone goalie to own a wini this year. 

GET TO KNOW THE GOLDEN BEARS
Western New England has dropped its last three games and is winless over its last four to bring a 2-6-1 overall record and 1-4-1 CCC ledger into the weekend. 

Justin Sullivan leads the Golden Bears' 21-goal offense with seven points on a team-best five goals and two helpers. Brayden Patricia is second on the squad with a six-point stat line evenly divided between goals (3) and helpers (3) with the trio of Rais Francis (2g, 3a), Shane Miller (2g, 3a) and Sam Mitchell (1g, 4a) all owning three-point stat lines. 

In net, Anthony Aureliano has the most time under his belt with six appearances, all starts. He owns a 3.64 GAA and .912 save percentage. Andrew LoRusso, meanwhile, has built a 4.07 GAA and .909 save percentage in his four games played, three starts.  

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Since 2000, Suffolk is 23-14-15 against Western New England. 
  • The Rams split a home-and-home series with the Golden Bears in the last meetings, Jan. 27-28, 2023. Suffolk defeated WNE in Eastie, 4-1, Jan. 27, before losing a 3-1 battle in Springfield. 
  • There have only been two cleansheets in the all-time series. 
  • Suffolk owns both of those battles. The last shutout was a 5-0 decision Nov. 18, 2017. 
  • Suffolk is 12-6-1 when hosting WNE. 
  • On the road, the Rams are 9-10-4 against the Golden Bears.
