Albertus Magnus Too Much for Men’s Hockey in Season Opener

EAST BOSTON – Suffolk men's hockey stumbled in its 2023-24 season debut to Albertus Magnus, 6-2, Friday afternoon at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons poured in three unanswered goals in the first four minutes to take a lead they would never relinquish. 

Nick Liotino eliminated the shutout as he lit the lamp with help from Joe O'Brien and Devin Lowe 1:06 after Albertus Magnus' third goal of the day to chip the distance down to a pair. The 3-1 gap remained at the first intermission.  

AMC added a power play goal in the middle period to restore the three-goal margin that grew to five in the first 10 minutes of the third period. 

Lowe put away his own goal with 2:11 remaining in regulation thanks to a set-up from O'Brien to make it the 6-2 final.  

NETMINDER NOTES

  • Chris Jackson took the loss. He allowed three goals and made two saves. 
  • Kannon Flageolle registered 28 stops off the bench for the Rams. 
  • Logan Bateman notched a 30-save, winning effort for the Falcons.  

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Lowe finished with two points with one goal and one assist. 
  • O'Brien notched a pair of assists. 
  • Liotino found the back of the net once. 
  • Albertus Magnus outshot Suffolk, 36-32.
  • The Falcons went 4-for-5 on the power play, while Suffolk went 0-for-5 with an extra skater.

  • Suffolk and Albertus Magnus met for the first time. 
  • The Rams moved to 10-13-1 in season debuts back to 1999. 
  • The Rams pulled their curtain back on their schedule as the home team for the fourth consecutive campaign.
