EAST BOSTON – Suffolk men's hockey skated with the nationally ranked for a period before No. 13 University of New England potted two unanswered goals to hand the Rams a 3-1 Commonwealth Coast Conference setback Friday night at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Nor'Easters netted the goal of the night as Logan DiScanio scored 5:24 into the first frame with help from Anthony Sciucco and Noah Szretter to boost UNE ahead.  

As time ticked off the clock in the opening period, the Rams aimed to level the playing field and the equalizer came with 54 seconds remaining before the first intermission. Kyle Valiquette slapped Troy Ladka's set-up into the back of the twine to lock things at 1-all.  

Things stayed that way until the final five minutes of the second period when Mike Tersoni registered the go-ahead goal with help from Aidan Curran at the 16:25 mark. 

Ryan Kuzmich gave UNE a two-goal advantage 1:01 into the third period.  

That margin stayed the rest of the way despite the blue-and-gold skating 6-on-4 for the final 1:59 of regulation as Jarret Bovarnick set on the bench when Collin Heinold sat down in the pen for interference. 

NETMINDER NOTES

  • Bovarnick had a 30-save night. 
  • Joe Stanizzim stopped 33 of the 34 shots he faced.  

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Valiquette logged Suffolk's lone goal. 
  • Ladka dished out the Rams only assist.
