Bowdoin Blanks Men’s Hockey, 4-0, in Non-Conference Finale

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Suffolk men's hockey was kept off the scoreboard as it closed its non-conference schedule as Bowdoin shutout the Rams, 4-0, Tuesday night at Sidney J. Watson Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Bowdoin burst onto the board late in the first period. With less than two minutes remaining before the first intermission, Bobby Pearl fired a low shot from the point that beat Cal Wilcox to break the Bears onto the board.  

The Polar Bears added a second strike in the second. It was Ethan Kimball on the grind from James Cerepak at 6:37 to double the distance. 

Bowdoin matched its offensive output in the first two periods in the third for the 4-0 final. First, Cerapak set-up Chris Brown 3:20 into the final frame of regulation before Ean Small put an exclamation point on the win with his own marker at the 15:31 mark. 

NETMINDER NOTES

  • Wilcox stopped 27 shots in the setback. 
  • Kevin Clark had 25 saves in the victory. 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • The Polar Bears outshot the Rams, 31-25. 
  • Bowdoin won the face off battle, 27-24.
  • The Rams went 0-for-3 on the power play. 
  • Suffolk played penalty less hockey.  

NOTEWORHTY

  • Suffolk and Bowdoin met for the first time. 
  • The Rams played penalty absent hockey for the second time this season, first since Nov. 19, 2022 against then-No. 13 Endicott. 
  • Suffolk was kept off the scoreboard for the third time this season. 
  • All three times the Rams were shutout this year came on the road.

Suffolk has a full weekend with a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) home-and-home series against Western New England. The Rams will host the Golden Bears in a Military Appreciation Game at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink Friday, Jan. 27 at 6 p.m., before wrapping up the series in Springfield, Massachusetts, Saturday, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m.
