No. 10 Curry Ends Men’s Hockey’s Win Streak, 4-1

CANTON, Mass. – Suffolk men's hockey saw its four-game win streak end Friday night as the No. 10 Colonels of Curry defeated the Rams, 4-1, in Commonwealth Coast Conference play at the Canton Ice House.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Curry poured in a pair of goals in the first two periods to put the Rams in a four-goal hole at the second intermission. 

Devin Lowe eliminated the shutout 3:13 into the third period. The Colone's attempted to clear the puck from their zone, but Suffolk's senior captain was there to intercept it and quickly fired a shot on target. Lowe caught Reid Cooper off guard to make it a 4-1 game. 

Both netminders kept the score still the rest of the way. Cal Wilcox turned aside the three shots Curry attempted, while Cooper picked up six additional saves to keep the score 4-1 Colonels the rest of the way. 

NETMINDER NOTES

  • Wilcox notched 23 saves in the setback. 
  • Cooper tallied 19 stops in the victory. 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Lowe was responsible for the Rams lone goal. His goal was unassisted. 
  • Curry outshot Suffolk, 27-20. 
  • The Colonels the battle in the face off dot, 31-29. 

NOTEWORTHY

  • Suffolk has scored at least one goal against Curry in six straight meetings.
  • Lowe scored his second goal of the season.
