BOSTON – Suffolk men's hockey wraps up its 2022 portion of its schedule Friday, Dec. 9 with a Commonwealth Coast Conference contest against Western New England. Puck drop between the Rams and Golden Bears at Olympia Ice Center is scheduled for 8 p.m.

Tyler Borys and Cole Scott netted their first collegiate goals, but it would not be enough to send the Rams past the Nor'Easters as Suffolk men's hockey fell to the University of New England, 4-2, Saturday in Commonwealth Coast Conference play at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

SUFFOLK SCORES

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk is 1-7-1 on the year and 1-7-0 in CCC action. The Rams look to reemerge in the win column Friday, for its second victory of the season, first since defeating Nichols, 6-3, Nov. 11. 

The blue-and-gold has produced 17 goals on the year. The trio of Ryan Harrigan (2g, 3a), Max Rand (2g, 3a) and Ryan Webb (2g, 3a) all holding identical five-point stat lines to lead the way.

Cal Wilcox has played the majority of time in net for the Rams. In eight games, all starts, he has built a 3.66 GAA and .896 save percentage. Jarret Bovarnick, meanwhile, has compiled a 4.20 GAA and .875 save percentage in his three games played.

GET TO KNOW THE GOLDEN BEARS
Western New England rides a four-game win streak into Friday's action. That stretch put the Golden Bears at 5-6-0 on the season and 3-5-0 in CCC contests. 

Shane Miller has powered WNE's 32-goal offense. The junior defenseman has four goals and 14 assists for a team-best 18 points. John D'Aniello (6g, 5a) and Kyle Knight (5g, 6a) share second on the squad with 11 points apiece.

Colten Lancaster is the Golden Bears go-to goalie. The senior holds a 4.26 GAA and .891 save percentage. Anthony Aureliano has seen time in net as well and built a 5.21 GAA and .867 save percentage in his three appearances.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Since 2000, Suffolk is 22-13-14 all-time against Western New England.
  • The Rams are unbeaten in five in a row against the Golden Bears. That stretch features three victories including the last meeting, a 4-2 triumph, Feb. 1, 2022.
  • There have only been two cleansheets in the all-time series.
  • Suffolk owns both of those battles. The last shutout was a 5-0 decision Nov. 18, 2017.
