Salve Regina Spoils Men’s Hockey's Season Debut, 3-0

EAST BOSTON – Suffolk men's hockey fell in its season opener as Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) counterpart blanked the Rams, 3-0, Friday night at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Salve Regina poured in all three goals over the first 20 minutes. The Seahawks wasted no time to light the lamp as Hoon Kim put the visitors on the score board 58 seconds into the action. Johnny Mulera and Logan Calder assisted on the season-opening goal for SRU.  

Less than two minutes later the distance doubled in the Seahawks favor as Walter Baumann put away a feed from Dylan Price. 

The score stayed still until the 15:37 minute mark when Mulera chipped away his own goal of the night. Cayden Kraus and Josh Kroon assisted on the Seahawks third goal of the day. 

Cal Wilcox did his job the rest of the way, however, Suffolk's offense could not figure out Kohl Reddy, who turned aside every shot the Rams put on target, to keep the 3-0 decision for Salve Regina. 

NETMINDER NOTES

  • Wilcox finished with 37 saves. 
  • Reddy registered 31 stops.  

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Salve Regina outshot Suffolk, 40-31. 
  • Nick LachaineRyan Webb and Tyler Borys all had four shots to their credit. 
  • The Seahawks held the upper hand at the face-off dot as well, 42-28.
