Bovarnick Selected to USA Open Men’s Ice Hockey Team for 2022 Maccabiah Games

BOSTON – In a recent announcement, Jarret Bovarnick of the Suffolk men's hockey team was appointed to the USA Open Men's Ice Hockey Team for 2022 Maccabiah Games.

Bovarnick will join the long and proud tradition of Jewish athletes who have represented the United State of America at the Maccabiah Games in Israel July 12-26, 2022. The Maccabiah Games are the central sporting event of the Jewish People with over 80 countries set to compete.

"We are very excited for Jarrett to earn this opportunity to represent the United States in international competition," Suffolk men's hockey head coach Chris Glionna said.

The US Open team will take part in the Maccabi USA seven-day Israel Connect program, departing approximately Sunday, July 5 from the states and are expected return back to American three weeks later on July 26.

The Boca Raton, Florida native earned his place on the team after open tryouts in the Greater Philadelphia area June 11-13, 2021.

Now a junior on Suffolk's squad, the netminder transferred into a blue-and-gold sweater mid-term in the 2019-20 season. In his time with the Rams, which included a two-game 2020-21, COVID condensed campaign, he has defended the pipes five times with three starts to his credit. In just under 200 minutes on the ice he has built a 4.52 GAA and a .872 save percentage.
