BOSTON – The Suffolk men's hockey team has made its way back to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) postseason after four seasons away. The fifth-seeded Rams make the trip to Canton, Massachusetts, Saturday, Feb. 26 to take on fourth-seed Curry at the Canton Ice Den at 5 p.m.

RAMS IN THE POSTSEASON

  • Suffolk will make its second appearance in the CCC postseason, first since 2017-18. 
  • The Rams enter the conference playoffs as the fifths seed for the first time. 
  • The postseason trip is Suffolk's first since 2018-19 when it competed in the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) Quarterfinals. 
  • The Rams look to advance to the CCC semifinals for the first time. 
  • The last time Suffolk moved on from the first round was in 2007-08 when it skated in the ECAC Northeast  

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk men's hockey closed out its regular-season in winning fashion as the Rams took down Wentworth, 3-1, Saturday night at Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink. The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) outing served as the Rams' Senior Night.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk (8-12-4) compiled its best league ledger in the CCC with a 7-10-4 mark against conference counterparts to seal up the fifth seed.  

The Rams have found the back of the net 66 times this season with 58 markers against league foes. Devin Lowe leads the way with six goals and 13 assists for 19 points. Shawn Montgomery sits second on the squad with 17 points behind a nearly even stat line of nine goals and eight helpers. Nick Lachaine (6g, 8a), Joe Feeney (2g, 10a),Olle Akermark (2g, 9a), Samuel Rand (5g, 6a), Ryan Harrigan (4g, 6a) and Alex Kolowrat (5g, 5a) are constants in the offensive conversation. 

Cal Wilcox is the backbone to the blue-and-gold. The junior netminder, who has started all, but two games, holds a .906 save percentage and 3.46 GAA.  

COLONELS CATCHUP
Curry compiled a 15-8-2 overall record and went 13-7-1 in CCC action in the regular-season. 

Timmy Kent is the force behind the Colonels' 83-goal offense. The junior forward has had a hand in 31 goals scoring 19 himself hand assisting on a dozen others. Mark Zhukov has surpassed the 20-point plateau as well with eight goals and 13 assists.  

Reid Cooper is Curry's go-to-goalie. He brings in a .918 save percentage and 2.14 GAA that he compiled over 19 appearances, 18 starts. 

WE MEET AGAIN
Suffolk went 0-2-1 in the three-game regular-season meetings with Curry this year. The Rams skated to a 3-3 stalemate with the Colonels before picking up the extra conference point in the shootout. The Rams fell at Curry, 4-3, the next day before slipping to the Colonels 7-2 Feb. 6.

ALL-LEAGUE ACCOLADES
Joe Feeney of the Suffolk men's hockey team wrapped up his time in a blue-and-gold sweater as the 2022 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Scholar-Athlete, the league announced as part of the All-CCC teams Thursday.

RAMS RECOGNITION
Cal Wilcox of the Suffolk men's hockey team earned Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Goaltender of the Week after a solid two-game outing in between the pipes for the Rams, the league office unveiled Monday. Wilcox notched a .943 save percentage in the two-game weekend scattered over the games.
