BOSTON – Suffolk men's hockey's CCC schedule continues with a home-and-home series with Salve Regina this weekend. The Rams will host the Seahawks Friday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. at Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink before hitting the road to Middletown, Rhode Island for an 8 p.m. puck drop on Saturday, Dec. 4.

SUFFOLK ATHLETICS 2021-22 FAN POLICY
Suffolk University Athletics, following guidance from the University's health and safety protocols, Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), Centers for Disease Control and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, plans to allow fans to attend home athletic contests during the 2021-22 academic and athletic year.

Fans, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, can attend games. They must be masked the entire time they are on campus, pursuant to institutional policy, and complete a health screening form at the security desk of each building upon arrival. This policy applies to home contests played on campus at the Ridgeway Building's Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court, as well as the Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink and the Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

For outdoor outings, specifically at East Boston Memorial Park, fans are asked to respect COVID safety protocols. At this time, masks will not be mandated for fans no matter vaccinated status at outdoor venues.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk men's hockey traded goals with non-conference foe UMass Dartmouth before ultimately falling short, 5-4, Sunday night at Hetland Arena in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

SUFFOLK SCORES

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk (1-5-2, 1-3-2) has lost four straight contests, with its last point coming against Curry on Nov. 12 in a 3-3 tie.     

Since an opening-night shutout in the Rams' 2021-22 debut, the blue-and-gold has found the back of the net no less than two times in each contest. Billy Roche leads the offensive effort with 11 points behind three goals and a team-best eight assists. Devin Lowe has netted a team-high five goals to go along with four assists, leaving him second on the team in scoring with nine points. Griffin Clark (3g, 2a) and Shawn Montgomery (2g, 3a) have chipped in five points each to round out the Suffolk's scoring leaders.

Cal Wilcox has manned the net for the Rams in each of their six CCC contests. The junior brings a 3.69 GAA and a .902 save percentage into the weekend series. 

SEAHAWKS SIGHTS
Salve Regina carries a 5-4-0 overall and a 4-2-0 CCC record into the weekend matchup.   

The Seahawks boast a well-balanced scoring approach with 25 games scattered over nine games. Mitch Walinski leads the scoring for Salve with four goals and a team-high seven assists for 11 points. Seth Benson is the leading goal scorers with five of his own to accompany one set-up. Spencer Stanley is second on the squad in assists with five and is a +7 on the scoresheet to lead the team. 

Nicholas Latinovich has led the charge in net for the Seahawks, starting in eight of their nine contests. The graduate goalie has a 2.13 GAA and a .931 save percentage to go along with one shutout.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • The Suffolk, Salve Regina series began at the turn of the century in 2000.
  • The Rams trail in the series against the Seahawks, 11-13-3. 
  • Suffolk fell in the last meeting, 2-3, Nov. 21, 2017, on home ice in Charlestown.

For the first time this season, a member of the Suffolk men's hockey team came away with the title of Ram of the Week, with Samuel Rand garnering 57.5 percent of the poll's 40 votes to pull away from the competition.
