Curry Slips Past Men’s Hockey, 4-3

CANTON, Mass. – With overtime looming, Curry got a puck past the Rams' with 28 seconds left in the contest to sneak past Suffolk men's hockey, 4-3, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play Saturday night at the Canton Ice Den.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 3 | Curry 4
RECORDS: Suffolk (1-2-2, 1-1-2 CCC) | Curry (5-0-1, 3-0-1 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 3-2 with 58 seconds left in regulation, Suffolk pulled Cal Wilcox from his post in between the pipes in the hopes to get the boost from the extra skater. The roll of the dice worked for the Rams as Devin Lowe pulled the blue-and-gold even with a goal. The junior hopped on a loose puck in a scrum in front of Curry's Reid Cooper and put it home on assists from Billy Roche and Alex Kolowrat.

With the excitement of the game-tying goal, Suffolk looked to keep that momentum going, but Curry had other things in mind. The tied scored lasted just 8.8 seconds before Eetu Selanne banked home a shot off a Suffolk defenseman with 28.9 seconds on the clock to send the Colonels' home crowd into an uproar. Nicholas Favaro and Michael Snow set-up the game-winner.

Before the thrilling final minute, Curry sandwiched a pair of goals around a Suffolk score in the first frame. Griffin Clark's stick ticket a mark on the Rams' side of the scoreboard 6:54 into the first frame. PJ Donahue and Max Rand aided in the marker.

In the middle period, Troy Ladka leveled the playing field as his first collegiate goal came in short-handed fashion with help from Donahue and Lowe.

Curry took the lead with 11:52 remaining in the third thanks to Favaro, which set up the final-minute flurry.
