Men’s Hockey Selected Seventh in CCC Preseason Coaches’ Poll

CCC RELEASE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Suffolk men's hockey has been pegged seventh in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Preseason Coaches' Poll, in a vote by the league's eight head coaches, the conference office announced Friday morning.

The blue-and-gold collected 21 points to finish ahead of Western New England (8).

Endicott, who won the last CCC Tournament Title back in 2019-20 as the second seed, has been chosen to defend its title after playing in only three outings last year. The gulls received 63 points and seven of the eight possible first place votes.

The 2019-20 CCC Regular Season Champ, the University of New England, is slotted second with 52 points despite not picking up a single first-place pick. Salve Regina (45) secured the last first place vote to round out the top three contenders.

Curry (38), Wentworth (31) and Nichols (30) precede the Rams in the poll with spots four through six.

The Rams, who were an original member of the CCC men's hockey conference back in 2016-17, are welcomed back to the league after a two-year hiatus that saw Suffolk skate in the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC). In those two years away, Chris Glionna led his squad to back-to-back NEHC post season appearances and a pair upset wins over nationally ranked foes.

Suffolk was set to reappear in the CCC a year ago, however, those plans were derailed due to the global COVID-19 pandemic and the Rams were held to just a two-game (1-1-0) season.
