Medvedev's Big Night Helps Extend Hockey's Unbeaten Streak to Eight

Sophomore Danyil Medvedev (Boston, Mass.) scored a pair of goals and added two assists as the Suffolk University Hockey team defeated Franklin Pierce 4-3 on Saturday evening in non-conference action.

Suffolk hopped out to a 2-1 after the first period as senior Tim Sprague (Plymouth, Mass.) scored on a 2-on-1 four and a half minutes into the contest.

Senior Brendan FitzPatrick (Winthrop, Mass.) would even things up when he scored eight minutes into the first.

Four minutes later sophomore Justin Selep (Pittsburgh, Pa.) would tally his sixth goal of the year as he took a feed from Medvedev and let off a shot from the left circle for the 2-1 lead.

After a Ravens' goal midway through the second, Medvedev would score his first goal of the game when he took a feed from junior Mike Cherpak (Enfield, Conn.) to make it a 3-2 game with seventy second remaining in the period.

Medvedev would score the eventual game winner 5:25 into the third, his third of the season as he rushed down the left side and sniped a shot to give Suffolk a two-goal edge.

Selep finished the game with a goal and two assists.

Junior Brendan Glynn (Quincy, Mass.) would cut the lead in half when he scored with a little over three minutes remaining in regulation for the 4-3 score.

Junior Brandon Smolarek (Chesterfield, Mich.) would make 31 saves in the victory, including 13 in the third period for Suffolk.

The victory continues Suffolk's unbeaten streak to open the 2014-15 season to eight games as they sit at a 7-0-1 record.

Suffolk will be back in action on Sunday afternoon as they take on Wentworth on Sunday in a non-conference matchup at Walter Brown Arena for a 5:00pm faceoff.
