Hockey Suffers 3-2 Setback to Becker

Junior Jeremy Narducci's (Apex, N.C.) goal with 7:02 remaining lifted Becker to a 3-2 ECAC Northeast ice hockey victory over Suffolk Wednesday evening at Steriti Rink.

The two teams battled to a 1-1 draw after the opening period of play before freshman Dan Kane's (Staten Island, N.Y.) goal 8:01 into the middle frame gave the visiting Hawks (9-12-3, 6-4-3 ECAC Northeast) a 2-1 cushion.  Freshman Chris Boyd's (Milford, Mass.) power play tally with 6:18 remaining in the second period knotted the score at 2-2 for the host Rams (8-15, 4-9 ECAC Northeast) heading into the final 20 minutes of play, setting up Narducci's unassisted marker that proved to be the game-winner.

Sophomores Branden Parkhouse (Racho Cucamonga, Calif.) and Cole Bell (Davenport, Iowa), along with freshmen Korby Anderson (Owantonna, Minn.) and Michael Hollander (Thornhill, Ont.), notched assists in the triumph for Becker, while senior Dan Dandreo (Swampscott, Mass.) and sophomores Andrew Flynn (Stamford, Conn.) and Andrew Monesi (Boston, Mass.) collected helpers on the two Suffolk goals.

Junior Jake Rosenthal (Wantagh, N.Y.) picked up the win in goal for Becker with a 36-save effort, while senior Jeff Rose (Collinsville, Conn.) made 45 stops between the pipes in the setback for Suffolk as the Hawks outshot the Rams by a 48-38 margin for the contest.

Suffolk closes out its regular season schedule with an ECAC Northeast showdown with Western New England on Saturday afternoon in Springfield, Mass. beginning at 3:35 p.m., as the Rams can clinch the final conference playoff spot with a victory, but the host Golden Bears would claim that berth with a win or tie.  Becker, which sits two points out third place in the league standings, closes out its regular season slate by entertaining Salve Regina on Saturday afternoon in an ECAC Northeast match-up in Marlboro, Mass. that begins at 2:30 p.m.
