Ken DiMaggio was hired as the newest head coach of Suffolk men’s golf prior to the 2022 season and begins his second campaign with the squad in 2023-24.

DiMaggio came to Suffolk with nearly five decades of golf professional experience under his belt with the head coaching role of the Rams his first in the collegiate realm. 

In his first year at the helm of the blue-and-gold, DiMaggio guided Suffolk to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship for the second time in as many seasons. Regionally, the first-year head coach led the Rams into the top 10 for the first time since 2019 with a ninth place finish. Under his leadership, a pair of players, Cameron Sinopoli and Vijay Sakuru, received all-conference recognition marking the first time in Suffolk history two student-athletes  picked up all-league nod. Sakuru earned first-team, while Sinopli secured a spot on teh second team. 

Additionally, DiMaggio's squad made program history yet again in 2022-23 as Sakuru and Sinopoli collected At-Large Academic All-District distinction from the College Sports Communicators (CSC), which is awarded to most accomplished student-athletes for combined academic and athletic achievements each year since 1952, this is the longest-running and most prestigious academic and athletic award for a student-athlete to receive. That same duo was honored by the CCC with Winter/Spring All-Academic. 

DiMaggio’s coaching career began in 1974 as a golf professional for the Nashawtuc Country Club in Concord, Massachusetts.  

From there, he spent 12 years as the head golf coach at Lincoln-Sudbury High School. There, he led the Warriors to a winning percentage of over .900 and guided Lincoln-Sudbury to three state Division I Championships and a handful of league titles.  

On the course himself, DiMaggio has competed in multiple New England Golf Tournaments including the Mass Open, Vermont Open, New Hampshire Open, Main Open, Bangor Open and New England Open. In 1980, he was reinstated as an amateur and competed in many Mass State Amateur events. He is a 12-time club champion at Nashawtuc Country Club, winning the title 10 consecutive times. His trophy case also includes a pair of Senior Club Championships at The Haven Country Club and one men’s club The Haven Country Club title, both clubs in Boylston, Massachusetts. Currently he holds a USGA Handicap of 1.  

Off the course, he worked in the IT staffing industry for 40-plus years and retired from that industry in 2021.  

On top of his responsibilities within Ram Nation, DiMaggio will work as a USA Representative of GHW Golf Tours and Discover Your Italy.
