Men’s Golf Finishes Fourth at CCC Championships

GRAFTON, Mass. – Suffolk men's golf put together a fourth-place performance at the 2023 Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship over two days at the Highfields Golf & Country Club.

In the first league championship that featured the entire men's golf field since 2021, Suffolk's combined card read 633 after the two-day event, good for fourth in the nine-team field. Roger Williams took home the title behind a team score of 600. Endicott was six strokes behind to claim runner-up status with Nichols' 616 good for third.

Hartford compete in its first conference championships as a member of the CCC. In year two of its NCAA Provisional Process, the Hawks were eligible to compete at the championships, however, its scores and its student-athletes performances were not considered in the scoring or placement.

Individually, Cameron Sinopoli tied for eighth in the 40-golfer field. The senior captain tied a program-best 18-hole CCC Championship mark of 75, which is held by his brother, current sophomore Christopher Sinopoli, on Thursday. The captain tacked on three more strokes on the second day of the green to finish with a 153. That two-day card ties a Suffolk record 36-hole individual best at the CCC Championships, which Cameron Sinpoli hit a year ago and Mauro Stanchieri set the mark in 2022.

Senior Vijay Sakuru shot a 159 over the two-day championship with a 77 on Thursday and an 82 on Friday to claim 15th.

Junior Jake Zirlin hit an 84 on day one and shaved seven strokes off that on the second day on the links to finish with a 161. Zirlin's score put the junior inside the top-20 in a share of 17th.

Christopher Sinopoli was two strokes behind Zirlin. The 163 put the sophomore in a share of 21st.

Jonathan Donovan compiled a 169 at his first CCC Championship to capture a tie of 29th.

The championship event wrapped up Suffolk's 2023 fall season with the Rams' spring season to be announced following the New Year.
